Vocabulario del idioma de los indios blancos (lengua bribri) / recojido por Ph[ilipp] Valentini, Limon. [between 1860 and 1878]

Handwritten manuscript by C. Hermann Berendt on lined paper, containing approximately 250 vocabulary entries in Spanish and Bribri. According to a note on the title page, the vocabulary was collected by Philipp J.J. Valentini in the province of LimoĢn, Costa Rica, among the Blancos Indians. The manuscript has the appearance of an informal draft. Some Spanish words lack a Bribri equivalent. There is occasional use of headings, such as for different categories of animals. The manuscript leaves were originally folded and tipped in on a flyleaf inside of contemporary paper covers, which accompany the manuscript. On the cover Berendt dates the vocabulary to the decade of the 1860s, presumably with reference to Valentini's collecting of it.
